| HSA Coalition: Bush's Health Initiative 'Grade A'
|
January 28, 2005
(Washington, D.C. - January 28, 2005) The HSA Coalition today called President Bush's Health Care initiatives Grade A, and thanks the President for his continued commitment to educating the public about Health Savings Accounts.
It is clear that President Bush's commitment to HSAs is rock solid, as evidenced by Wednesday's health care policy event at the National Institute of Health, that highlighted HSAs. The President is using the bully pulpit to explain the most affordable health care option available today: Health Savings Accounts.
The HSA Coalition strongly supports the President's health care agenda, and hails him for his most recent proposal, announced yesterday, to offer a tax credit for HSA contributions to the accounts of employees' of small businesses.
This initiative, combined with the President's plan to allow individuals to deduct their HSA health insurance premium, allow health insurance to be sold across state lines over the internet, and to provide tax credits to the uninsured (and allow a portion of the money to be deposited in an HSA) will all work together to significantly reduce the number of uninsured in the United States and reduce the cost of health care to millions of Americans. (A discussion of these policies is at: www.whitehouse.gov/infocus/healthcare/.)
