Crowd Fund Investing: Outdated Regulations Need to be Reformed to Unleash Capital for Entrepreneurs

SBE Council is advocating for the modernization of outdated securities laws to help boost the availability of capital for small businesses. Working with SBE Council members, we are educating lawmakers about crowdfunding, and the need for a new regulatory framework to unleash capital for entrepreneurs. U.S. HOUSE passes H.R. 2930, "Entrepreneurs Access to Capital Act," 407-17!  Legislation is currently stuck in the U.S. Senate, and SBE Council is diligently working to ensure that a good bill advances so that entrepreneurs have a workable platform for accessing capital. NEW: On January 31, President Obama sent his start-up legislative agenda to Congress which includes "a national framework that allows entrepreneurs and small businesses to raise capital through ‘crowdfunding.'"

Please Define "Tax Loophole"

by Leonard Steinberg, President, Steinberg Enterprises, LLC

What is the definition of a "tax loophole"?  Much has been said and written about these, but no one has provided an example of a specific tax loophole. Leonard Steinberg writes that as an accountant he can "categorically state that there is no such item that is a tax loophole."  Read Steinberg's column to find out why.
